Located in central Alberta, the town of Bonnyville is situated between Cold Lake and St. Paul. Bonnyville offers an array of enjoyable outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, boating, water sports and bird watching. Jessie Lake is a haven for many varieties of waterfowl and visitors should take the time to see the nesting populations of the American avocet or watch the short-eared owl take flight from the lake's walking path or viewing platforms. Boaters will have more than 15 recreational lakes to use, all located within the municipal boundaries of the M.D. of Bonnyville, while anglers will have a variety of fish to catch, everything from burbot to rainbow trout. The Bonnyville and District Museum offers visitors the opportunity to view artifacts that are pertinent to the development and settling of the region. Many special events are held at the museum throughout the year. The Bonnyville and District Centennial Centre opened in the fall of 2007 and features commercial and post-secondary space as well as two ice rinks, a fitness centre, conference and banquet facilities and many other amenities.
