    Waskasoo Park
    Stretches through Red Deer from Heritage Ranch to River Bend Recreation Area in the northeast. The park has 50 km (30 mi) of river valley bike paths, picnic sites, an 18-hole golf course and Kerry Wood Nature Centre. The centre features a gallery, theatre and discovery room for children. Open daily from mid-May until early September.

    Mural Park
    This park is located on 50th Avenue and showcases a large mural depicting the heritage and settlement of Elk Point. The mural measures 30.5 m (100 ft) long by 2.4 m (8 ft) high and was painted by Billie Milholland.

    Kerry Wood Nature Centre
    Open year-round, Red Deer's Kerry Wood Nature Centre offers first rate exhibits and programs interpreting the natural history of central Alberta. The nature centre is at the entrance to the Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary, Alberta's first federal migratory bird sanctuary.

    Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park
    Established as a provincial park in 1952, this island is located directly on Lac La Biche Lake, near the town itself. Easily accessible via a 2.5 km long land bridge, this area offers visitors and residents a multitude of outdoor activities including cross country skiing, fishing, hiking and camping. The park, which is home to more than 200 bird species, is also one of the best birding locations in Alberta.

    Coal Lake North Provincial Recreation Area is located outside of Camrose and offers a variety of recreational opportunities.     Drayton Valley Trail System
    Connecting all of the Town of Drayton Valley, its more than 14.4 kilometres of walkways winds through neighbourhoods, parks, gardens and activity areas. Special features include mini soccer pitches, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts. Benches along the way allow for a rest, and the paths are lighted for ease and safety in the evening.
