    Smoky Lake
    From Lac La Biche, you may choose to return to Edmonton by heading south 74 km (44.5 mi) on Hwy 36 and west 30 km (18 mi) on Hwy 28 to Smoky Lake. Victoria Settlement Provincial Historic Site southeast of town takes you back to the late 1800s and life among the Plains and Woodland Indians, missionaries, fur traders and settlers. Costumed interpreters provide guided tours. May 15 to Sept 7, daily 10 am - 6 pm, call 645-6256. Smoky Lake Museum is in an old country school and features pioneer artifacts, mounted animals and birds, and early machinery. Year round, Sat 10 am - 4 pm, Sun 1 pm - 5 pm; by donation. 656-3503. Complete the journey from Smoky Lake to Edmonton via Hwy 28. See Edmonton and Area for towns of interest on or near the homeward route, including Gibbons, Bruderheim and Fort Saskatchewan.
